NEWSFLASH: THE REACH FOR A DREAM FOUNDATION INVITES YOU TO SHARE HOPE
Reading Time: 2 minutes

In just one day, the Reach For A Dream Foundation makes dreams come true for six children with life-threatening illnesses. In one year, the Foundation touches the lives of over 30 000 children. But the COVID-19 lockdown has temporarily grounded this “fairy godmother”… And the dream children in waiting are going without the Foundation’s magic.

Now, more than ever before, these children need inspiring messages of hope. Join the Reach For A Dream Foundation and its friends, on 1 April 2020, to #sharehope

As author Roy T. Bennett wrote: “Learn to light a candle in the darkest moments of someone’s life. Be the light that helps others see; it is what gives life its deepest significance.” With this in mind, the Foundation invites South Africans to bring a little more light into the world. The Foundation encourages South Africans to #sharehope, by recording a video or photographing a special message of inspiration and sharing it on social media (tagging @ReachForADream and using the hashtag #sharehope).

Reach For A DreamThe Foundation is also inviting South Africans to make donations, which will allow it to continue its incredible work after the lockdown has lifted. Donating is easy – simply visit www.reachforadream.org.za/donate and follow the steps.

“We believe that we can be stronger, together,” says Julia Sotirianakos, CEO: The Reach For A Dream Foundation. “We know that South Africans are resilient and positive, that we lift each other up. We want to share your smiles, joy and buckets of positivity with the children in our care, to let them know that their dreams haven’t been forgotten, even in these unusual times. Let’s remind the children that they are loved so that they can have courage.”

“We also urge our fellow South Africans to make donations. A donation of just R30 can help bring immeasurable joy and hope into a child’s life. Let’s make the wait for the end of the lockdown worth it: Join Reach For Dream and #sharehope today,” says Sotirianakos.

Follow the Foundation’s social media pages from 1 April 2020, to see moving messages from the Foundation’s friends, including Roxy Burger and Jonathan Boynton-Lee, as well as some of the survivors (previous dream children) and the nurses, doctors and volunteers who work with the children. Upload your own message of hope, joy and inspiration, and consider making a donation too.

Let’s show the dream children that nothing can dampen hope and courage!
