ENOUGH IS ENOUGH: STANDING UP AGAINST GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE
Welcome to Two Dads and a Kid – our little corner of the internet where family, fatherhood, and a fair bit of chaos collide. We’re two dads raising one incredible kid (now a teen!) and sharing honest, heartfelt stories about parenting, love, and life as a modern family in South Africa. Grab a coffee, settle in, and join us on this ever-evolving adventure called parenthood.
Gender-Based Violence (GBV) remains one of the most urgent and devastating human rights issues in South Africa. Each year, countless women and children experience violence at the hands of those who should protect and respect them. It’s a crisis that affects every community, every family, and every one of us.
As parents, partners, friends and citizens, we cannot stay silent. The responsibility to end GBV does not rest only with women – it demands that men, too, take active responsibility in changing the culture that enables abuse, silence and victim-blaming.
@womenforchangesa is a powerful voice in this moment. Through their tireless advocacy, survivor support, and public awareness campaigns, they remind us that real change begins with action – and that everyone has a role to play.
HOW WE CAN ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Listen and Believe Survivors. Every story matters. When we listen without judgment, we help break the cycle of silence.
Challenge Harmful Behaviours. Call out sexist comments, abusive jokes, and controlling attitudes. Small actions build a culture of accountability.
Educate the Next Generation. Teach respect, empathy and consent from an early age – these lessons shape the kind of adults our children become.
Support and Amplify. Follow, share, and contribute to organisations like @womenforchangesa that work on the frontlines of change.
This fight is about creating a safer, more equal society – one where every woman and child can live free from fear. Ending GBV requires sustained effort, empathy and collective will.
Let’s stand together, raise our voices and keep the momentum going – not just during the campaigns or commemorative days, but every single day!
