REVIEW : FAMILY CHRISTMAS BREAK AND THE HYUNDAI VENUE RENTAL

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Hyundai Venue

On our recent 2 week trip to the West Coast, we hired the Hyundai Venue 1.0T and were quite frankly blown away by the total package this little crossover offers. First introduced to the South African market back in 2019, this vehicle is the perfect all-rounder.

  • stylish
  • practical
  • compact
  • possible value for money vs competition

As hard as we tried, we could not fault this cute Venue.

INTERIOR

It has loads of space for us 3 boys. It’s comfortable and provides all our modern-day comforts. It was economical with plenty of power on tap when needed.
DadE loved the Airplay interface and DadD enjoyed the effective Air Conditioning system a lot more, which helped keep his usual road rage in check. For our son, the space at the back was the best feature for him. We travelled all over the West Coast during our 2-week break and thoroughly enjoyed the driving experience of this Hyundai. It definitely makes our Top 10 list of vehicles to consider when we are next ready to purchase our next car.

It’s an ideal vehicle for small families (max 4) to provide a comfortable ride for everyone. Or anyone else looking to purchase their first car and want value for money. As we all strive to drive more cautiously and keep our eyes on the road and not the phone, the modern 8-inch touchscreen multimedia system with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is the perfect companion for the driver. In addition, it includes all-round airbags, ISOFIX mounting points, steering wheel-mounted controls and a reversing camera.

EXTERIOR

The Venue we drove was a 1.0-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder. May be small, but it is able to produce smooth delivery of power whenever required. With the ever-escalating fuel cost, we appreciated the fuel efficiency the car offers. We were able to average 5.5 litres/100km during our daily West Coast family drives. It has a 45-litre tank and a decent boot with a capacity of 350 litres with the seats in place.

THOUGHTS

As an outdoor-loving family that loves to travel, spend time exploring this beautiful country and share our experiences with family and friends, we all agreed that the Hyundai Venue compact SUV is a wonderful option for a small family, like ours. The ride was comfortable, the interior spacious, providing all our modern-day comforts and the drive an effortless pleasure. From its bold exterior looks and array of features and its industry-leading warranty (7yr/200,000 km), we highly recommend it.

The entry-level Hyundai Venue retails from R294,900.00 to around R450,000.00 for the N-Line top of the range.
