IMPROMPTU OVERNIGHT STAY AT VALLEY LODGE & SPA

Hubby surprised the son and I with a last minute invite to stay over at the Valley Lodge out in Magaliesburg. We weren’t celebrating a milestone. On our way to the lodge though we took a Sho’t Left and made a stop at the Sterkfontein Caves out in the Cradle of Humankind.  Only an hour’s drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria, the Sterkfontein Caves are world famous for their fossil finds. From my last visit a decade back, the caves have undergone a facelift bringing it to the modern age. The Sterkfontein Caves site now has a stunning restaurant, conferencing...

HOW TO HAVE FUN IN A TOY KINGDOM STORE

WELCOME TO TOY KINGDOM We arrived at Sandton City slightly earlier than 11 am, just to make sure we were on time for our appointment with the folks from Toy Kingdom. At this point, I wasn’t sure who was more excited, us dads or our son. It’s not every day that you get asked to visit a toy store and play to your heart’s content … or is it?  If you’ve watched or read about Charlie and how he got to experience the Chocolate Factory, this honestly seemed to be a similar experience, like we had bought THE last...

Thomas first appeared in 1946 in the second book in the series, Thomas the Tank Engine, and was the focus of the four short stories contained within. Thomas’ best friends are Percy and Toby. The...

REVIEW: THE WHITNEY HOUSTON SHOW BY BELINDA DAVIDS

On Sunday friends and I decided to trek across the city to Emperors Palace for Belinda Davids performance on The Greatest Love Of All – The Whitney Houston Show. It was so worth the drive across the city. That it was a matinee show on a Sunday afternoon did not seem to deter avid Whitney Houston fans.  Hayden started the show with a brief solo saxophone performance before Belinda appears and begins her stellar performance. What a voice! She had the audience mesmerized and singing along, clapping and dancing throughout her performance. There wasn’t a song from Whitney’s hits, that the...
