CHILDREN’S BOOK REVIEW – MY BIG BOOK OF SOUTH AFRICAN ANIMALS
My big book of South African animals is created by Nicola Friggens, Penny Worms and Kylie Hamley, published by priddy books part of the Pan MacMillan SA publishing family.
The book is suitable for all ages, but I found that from +3 years our son is relating and able to identify the animals easier making the reading of the book with him so much more fun. It may also be because of a recent visit to a Game Reserve where he got to see many of the animals we read about. I admit that even as I parent I got to learn about a few animals I’d never seen or heard of before reviewing the book.
I found the photos in the book to be large enough for our son to clearly identify the animals with ease. The book divides the animals into their different sizes, whether they’re land or water animals and of course, whether they creep or walk making it easier for parents plan when taking the kids to the Zoo or a Game Park the specializes on a specific group of animals.
The book also has a few easy questions that lets you test how well your child was paying attention and how much they understood.
My big book of South African animals has become one of our son’s favourite bedtime reads. Christmas is around the corner, so totes recommend this book for the toddlers in your life.
Yay/Nay – YAY- definitely recommend this book for the toddlers in your life.
