REVIEW : MADAGASCAR – A MUSICAL ADVENTURE JR

If there’s a stage performance you take your kids to this winter/school break, #MadagascarJR should definitely make your list of “must see” for the family! A grandiose production by Jill Girard and Keith Smith. This musical production is bursting with colour and full of energy from the opening curtain. Incredible performances by Alex the Lion (Luciano Zappa), Gloria the Hippo (Joelle Rochecouste), Marty the Zebra (Thokozani Jiyane) and Melman the Giraffe (Marvin Molepo) who incidentally was our son’s favourite on stage.
Gloria, the Hippo’s performance is sure to warm your heart as she consumes the stage with her boisterous personality and fabulous dance moves. For the adults, Bradley Hartmann as King Lemur will have you in stitches. Overall an incredible and engaging performance by the whole cast. One of my favourite productions by Jill and Keith!
Jill Girard and Keith Smith are delighted to bring to life for the very first time on stage at The Peoples Theatre, the popular Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR, providing children, parents and all those with a love of joy and laughter, the ideal family entertainment over the coming winter months. #AD

Join Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the hip hip Hippo and, of course, those hilarious, plotting penguins as they bound onto your stage in the musical adventure of a lifetime. Alex the Lion is the king of the urban jungle, the main attraction at New York’s Central Park Zoo. He and his best friends — Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe and Gloria the Hippo — have spent their whole lives in blissful captivity before an admiring public and with regular meals provided for them. Not content to leave well enough alone, Marty lets his curiosity get the better of him and makes his escape — with the help of some prodigious penguins — to explore the world,
Filled with outlandish characters, adventure galore and an upbeat score, Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR. will leave audiences with no choice but to “Move It, Move It!” Directed by Jill Girard and Keith Smith, with Musical Direction by Dale Scheepers, Musical Staging by Sandy (Dyer) Richardson and Set & Lighting Design by Grant Knottenbelt.
Children will be left inspired, enchanted, educated, entertained and challenged by the power of theatre where “a storybook comes to life” on stage through sets, costumes, good sound, lighting and high calibre professional actors.
