SWIMMING TIPS : SELECTING BASIC GEAR AND SCHOOL

When I was our son’s age I hadn’t learnt how to swim. For no other reason than that where I lived for the first 5 years of my life, although there were pools around we didn’t frequent them. Not sure why, and haven’t really asked my folks either. That all changed when we moved countries and everyone in my new circle of friends were swimming and were having a jol in the pool. So, from age 10 I started swimming and I’ve loved being in the water ever since. It goes without saying that when hubby and I became parents,...

CHILDREN’S BOOK REVIEW – MY BIG BOOK OF SOUTH AFRICAN ANIMALS

My big book of South African animals is created by Nicola Friggens, Penny Worms and Kylie Hamley, published by priddy books part of the Pan MacMillan SA publishing family.  The book is suitable for all ages, but I found that from +3 years our son is relating and able to identify the animals easier making the reading of the book with him so much more fun. Introducing Nerf AccuStrike – Get Ready to Battle with Accuracy

Last week our son celebrated yet another birthday (can’t believe how quickly 5 years fly by) and this Hasbro drop arrived adding to the festive vibe our son was on. A brief chat from dads about what he can aim and shoot at and our son was mastering the Nerf blaster. Even hubby asked for a turn using the blaster. He loves that it assists with our son’s grip, accuracy, focus...

RACE – KIDDIES CYCLE CHALLENGE This past weekend was the busiest in terms of being outdoors and active. I am totally enjoying that our son loves being active riding his bike, swimming and as of this past Saturday he is finally enjoying running as well.  Our morning started with us making our way to Riversands for our son’s first Kiddies Cycle Challenge. I honestly think the dads were more excited than our son. The vibe inside the briefing tent was amazing, again it felt like the parents were more excited about the race compared to the kids who were...

5 THINGS THAT EXCITE ME NOW THAT I’M A PARENT

I’m finding that being an adult isn’t as cool as it seemed when I was growing up. No responsibilities. If I needed to get somewhere, I could walk or I’d be dropped off without a worry about whether there was petrol in the car or not. Since becoming an adult and deciding to assume the role of a parent there are few things that I now get excited about that would repulse me before.    HAPPY OUR SON DUMPED OR TOOK A PISS I mean, like really! No this isn’t a sexual fetish of mine if you’re seriously curious, go...
