Have you entered the Discovery Vitality Run Series?

A few weeks back it was announced that Discovery Vitality was partnering with some of the top Joburg races this year. You know those “must do” races those of us living here mark to enter annually. If you’re new to the area these are the Old Ed’s Road Race, Wanderers Aucor Property Race, Adrienne Hersch Challenge and Rockies Gerald Fox Memorial. Just in time for Spring as the weather begins to warm up.
It don’t matter if you’re a regular runner or new to running #getsomeonerunningSA you should consider entering one if not all four races in the series. Discovery Vitality Run Series will be giving out limited edition medals that if you complete all four races you end up with a stunning final single medal.
First race in the series takes place this weekend 6th August 2017, Old Ed’s Road Race. If you didn’t get to enter, you’re still on time to enter one of the main races for the second race in the series Wanderers Aucor Property Race on the 27th August 2017. Hurry now as the 5km Fun Run has already sold out!
If you’re on the Discovery Vitality Programme you’re in for a treat as you will be earning extra points for participating (see table below) and if you finish three or four race in the series you’re in for an extra 1000 bonus points! So, if you’re behind on your points to reach the Gold Status … here’s an awesome opportunity for you to play catch up!
Distance Phase 1 Phase 2 Total Vitality fitness points
- 5km 300 points 500 points 800 points
- 10km 600 points 500 points 1 100 points
- 21.1km 1 500 points 500 points 2 000 points
Earn an additional 1 000 bonus Vitality points for completing at least 3 of the 4 events
Complete all four races in the series and you stand a chance of winning 1 of 10 ASICS hampers worth R3,500!

I’ve run Old Eds, Wanderers and Adrienne Hersch before, they all host just the right balance of tough and recovery. This year Rochies Gerald Fox Memorial will be the first time I get to actually run it, the last time I entered but never got to the start line. Sad I know.
