CONSTITUTION HILL OFFERS FREE ACCESS THIS HERITAGE DAY!
Heritage month is an important event in South Africa and culminates with the Heritage Day public holiday every year on September 24th.
Heritage Day brings South Africans together in the celebration of their diverse cultures, beliefs, customs and traditions. It reflects a commitment to ensure that the nation is an inclusive one which ultimately belongs to all its people.
To celebrate National Heritage Day, Constitution Hill has a “Free For ALL” entry day on the 24th of September 2020. The public is urged to get their tickets online as numbers are limited.
Constitution Hill is a global tourism attraction and living museum which I tells the story South Africa’s liberation struggles and the country’s journey to democracy. The immersive tour experience takes the visitor through several exhibitions that show the challenges of those who were incarcerated within its walls. The site once incarcerated freedom struggle heroes Nelson Mandela; Winnie Mandela; Albert Luthuli, Mahatma Gandhi and Fatima Meer. Their stories and experiences together with those of the ordinary prisoner are told through the voices of the passionate guides who make the visit so worthwhile.
The South African Constitution states that the country “belongs to all who live in it, united in our diversity”. No better opportunity than this to visit and explore Constitution Hill, for a reminder of our heritage.
Ticket purchases are capped at 5 tickets per person per time slot and spaces are limited. Please note that in terms of COVID protocols, each guide can only accommodate 12 individuals at a time. For bookings visit your nearest Pick ‘n Pay or online at Webtickets.
Diarize the 24th of September 2020 but if you can’t make it, here’s some exciting news, the reopening of Constitution Hill is on the 1st of October 2020.
